What's your Callsign?
Visionary or operator? Instinct or evidence? A free 3-minute quiz that reads eight sides of how you work and gives you one of 16 Callsigns, your top strengths, blind spot and ideal business partner.
The eight sides
- Ideas or systems. You're at your best at the start, when nothing exists yet. Or: You're at your best turning something that works into something that runs every time.
- Push or tell. When something needs to happen, you make it happen and hold people to it. Or: You'd rather give people the facts and your view, then let them decide.
- Instinct or evidence. You read a situation fast and trust the first strong signal. You'd rather be roughly right early than exactly right late. Or: You want to see the shape of a problem before you commit. Your confidence comes from the work you've done.
- Upside or safety. What could be is what gets you up in the morning. A missed chance stays with you longer than a mistake. Or: You build for the long run and protect what's working. A bad bet stays with you longer than a missed one.
- Frontier or scale (on your profile). You'd rather be first to something nobody believes in yet than grow something that already works. Or: You'd rather take something proven and make it ten times bigger than start from nothing.
- Optimist or skeptic (on your profile). You start from why something could work, and give people and ideas the benefit of the doubt. Or: You start from what could break it. Ideas have to earn your trust.
- Many worlds or tight circle (on your profile). You know people across industries, cities and generations. Your edge is knowing who's doing what, everywhere. Or: You'd rather have a few people you can call at 2 AM than a hundred who like your posts. Trust takes time with you, and then it lasts.
- Doors or answers (on your profile). When someone's stuck, your first thought is who they should talk to. Or: When someone's stuck, you stay with the problem until it gives.

Success drivers
An optional second round scores six habits that research most often links to career and business success.
- Follow-through. You plan, keep your promises and finish what you start. The personality trait most consistently linked to job performance across decades of studies.
- Self-control. You can pass on what's easy now for what pays off later. In a study that followed 1,037 people from childhood, self-control predicted adult wealth and health, even allowing for intelligence and family background.
- Initiative. You change your situation instead of waiting for it to change. Among the traits most strongly linked to business success in a review of more than a hundred studies of business owners.
- Bounce-back. Setbacks slow you down but don't stop you. The part of "grit" that holds up in the research: keeping going after setbacks.
- Self-belief. You trust yourself to handle hard, unclear problems and stay steady under pressure. Self-belief and calm under pressure both show up in research on successful business owners.
- Curiosity. You go looking for new ideas and skills, and enjoy getting better. Openness to new ideas and ways of working is linked to business success, especially for founders.
Questions
What is Callsign?
Callsign is a free quiz from Inner Circle by BackScoop for founders, investors and senior operators. Twenty quick this-or-that questions read eight sides of how you work and give you one of 16 Callsigns, with your seat at the table, top five strengths, blind spot, the business partner who covers your gaps, and a forwardable "how to work with me".
How long does it take?
About three minutes for the first result. An optional second round of twelve statements, about a minute, adds your six success drivers.
What does Callsign measure?
Four sides make your type: ideas or systems, push or tell, instinct or evidence, upside or safety. Four more appear on your profile: frontier or scale, optimist or skeptic, many worlds or tight circle, and doors or answers. Each side is reported as a percentage lean, not a box.
Is Callsign scientific?
The eight sides are a framework for reflection, not a clinical assessment. The optional success drivers (follow-through, self-control, initiative, bounce-back, self-belief and curiosity) are the habits research most often links to career and business success, including meta-analyses of job performance and of business owners. They describe habits, not destiny: ability, background, timing and who you know matter too, and no short quiz can measure them.
How is Callsign different from MBTI or CliftonStrengths?
MBTI sorts how you take in information and make decisions in general; CliftonStrengths ranks 34 talent themes. Callsign is built for people who build companies and careers: how you build, lead, decide and take risks, what kind of venture suits you, and who your ideal business partner is.
Can I compare my Callsign with friends or a co-founder?
Yes. Every result has its own link. When a friend or co-founder takes it through your link, you both see how your Callsigns fit together, and friends can confirm which of your strengths sound like you.
Is it free?
Yes. Callsign is free. It is made by Inner Circle by BackScoop, a private network that makes one handpicked introduction every Monday.
